If you need to add a smart key for a 2018-2024 GMC Terrain, the Autel IM608 Pro2 can complete the job through the vehicle’s IMMO system. The following workflow shows the exact programming sequence used on a 2018 GMC Terrain (GCC 433 MHz).
Vehicle & Tool
- Vehicle: GMC Terrain (2018-2024)
- Tool: Autel MaxiIM IM608 Pro II
- Function: Add Smart Key
Access the IMMO Function & Read the PIN
On the IM608 Pro2, go to:
IMMO → GM → Manual Selection → GMC → Terrain → 2018–2024 → Hot Function → Add Smart Key
- Start the Add Smart Key function.
- Select Yes to read the PIN, then press the Start/Stop button once with the existing smart key when prompted.
- After the PIN is read successfully (in this case 3387), skip DTC clearing and continue to Key Learning.
Program the New Smart Key
- Press the Start/Stop button once when prompted.
- Place the new smart key in the key slot and remove all other keys from the vehicle.
- Enter the 4-digit PIN, switch the ignition off, and allow the system to complete the required 12-minute configuration period.
The IM608 Pro II requires an active Wi-Fi connection during this stage.
Complete the Learning Procedure
After the waiting period:
- Press the Start/Stop button once to continue. When the tool confirms the current key has been matched, select No if there are No additional keys to program.
- Switch the ignition off, then press and hold the Start/Stop button for about 12 seconds before releasing it.
- Long-press the Start/Stop button again until the instrument cluster illuminates.
- Switch the ignition off, then hold the brake pedal, press Start/Stop to start the engine, wait about 5 seconds, and switch the ignition off again.
Finish the Synchronization
- Stop the engine.
- Open and close the driver’s door.
- Remove the smart key, then press the Lock and Unlock buttons together before releasing them.
- When asked whether another key needs to be synchronized, select No.
The tool will display the updated number of matched keys.
Verification
Start the engine and confirm the newly programmed smart key operates normally, including basic lock/unlock functions.
Workshop Notes
This programming session was completed successfully on a 2018 GMC Terrain GCC 433 MHz, increasing the stored key count from 2 to 3.
